Dromore National School cherishes children of differencing abilities and feels the integration of children where possible is beneficial for all children.
We have supported children with Autism for many years in this school and we now have five autism classes in our school. In a unit setting children access the curriculum with hands on and sensory activities. The TEACCH, PECs and other similar specific teaching programmes are used.
We have two sensory rooms in the school. One room offers tranquillity, relaxation and soft lighting while the other is a high activity room incorporating a swing and a trampoline.
July Provision
We were delighted to offer July Provision to our pupils this year. The children throughoughly enjoyed two weeks of activity, fun and learning. Outings included Rathmullan beach, cinema trip, Alcorns Tropical World, the local woods and playpark. Byrne’s Petting Zoo visited the school along with a play trailer and ice-cream van.
